The mother of notoriously troubled actress Lindsay Lohan is reportedly considering taking legal action against the makers of popular US TV show Glee, after an episode mocking her daughter was aired last week.
Dina Lohan is allegedly suing producers over the latest episode of Glee, entitled “The Subsititute”, in which Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow guest stars as substitute Spanish teacher Holly Holliday.
In the hour-long episode, Holliday asks her pupils a number of questions in Spanish, all accompanied with English subtitles. These questions all relate to actress Lindsay Lohan, and include “How many times has Lindsay Lohan been to rehab?” and “Lindsay Lohan is totally crazy, right?”.
Dina Lohan believes that the use of her daughter’s plight – Lohan is currently in a rehabilitation centre after failing court-ordered drug tests – in the show for comedic purposes amounts to defamation.
A spokesperson for Lindsay said:
“Lindsay has an issue that millions of people around the world are dealing with yet ‘Glee’ is treating addiction as a laughing matter.”
Dina Lohan is reportedly considering legal action against the show, so it might be wise for Glee’s producers to consider professional indemnity insurance for defamation issues, if they haven’t done so already.
