At 4:36pm on Saturday 5th June we successfully completed the national 3 peaks challenge in 23 hours 46 mins, leaving only 14 minutes to spare!
Starting at 4:50pm on Friday we started climbing Ben Nevis in the late afternoon heat. 3 hours later we were standing in snow on the summit taking our first team photo. Just under 2 hours later, after taking in the stunning scenery, we were in the minibus heading for Scafell.
So far so good, until we all started suffering from car sickness. This meant we couldn’t eat anything and had to climb Scafell Pike on empty stomaches! Not an easy task, but we rallied together and managed to complete this stage in just under 4 hours, so we were still on schedule.
Over to Snowdon and we had 4 hours 20 remaining. By this time the temperature had risen and we were climbing in the mid day sun. Still going with very little food, it took a little longer than normal to reach the summit, 2 hours 20. However, this fortunately still left us time to get to the bottom before the 24 hours was up.
The whole team are proud of their efforts and it was a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
Thank you to all who have already supported us with our charity fundraising, we will have a final total in a couple of weeks when all the donations have been collected. So far, we have just topped £7,000.
